New Boat Purchase

Long time lurker here to ask opinion on a new boat.
I've been with TD since the Green Jeans and Bobcat threads but I had to reset my UN/Password due to lack of posting.
I bought my current boat in 1994 - a 15' Lake Sport with a 60hp Yamaha. It still runs great and it has been a used for fishing, riding, pulling tubes/wake boards, etc.
Now, I am in the market for a new boat.
If the OB had a choice, would it be:
-H18 Express with a 115 Yamaha
-G3 Sportman 1810 with a 115 Yamaha
-RT188C Ranger with a 115 Mercury
Those are the ones that are within my budget and local availability.
I appreciate the input.

Is that because of the motor or the boat?

Did you look at the Avid 18XB? It is in your price range, heck the 19XB might even fit your price range.

I did - I'm not too familiar with those, and simply forgot to add them to the list

Of the ones you listed, Ranger by a mile.

bought a g3 1810 with 115 yammy sho. love it. needed the huge front deck. i knew no one with a g3 and my past two boats were xpress, but i really like my boat.
wanted a ranger until a ranger dealer pointed out the transom area on a ranger and a tracker are pretty much identical. i walked away, and he understood. he’s considering dropping ranger aluminum because of the johnny morris effect.
a buddy bought an h-18 xpress and he loves it. 115 sho.
we shopped boats for 7 months from huntsville to the texas border. bought in january…me in baton rouge. my buddy found his in stapleton, al.
btw, neither of us wanted carpet in our boat. and we upgraded to a fortrex TM.

They are all similar I would go with the lightest one. That will get the most out of your motor and allow shallower water with a jackplate.

I know a couple of guys who had G3's, and they really liked them. They bought at Tim's Marine in Violet. Todd Masson has a G3; you can check it out on some of the videos he posts on the internet.

He sold the G3 bay boat and purchased a bass boat. It looks aluminum. Maybe another G3? Whatever it is it looks right up OPs alley

1. Ranger
2. Xpress
3. G3
That’s my thoughts on it and I’ve owned a few and been in many. Downfall on the ranger is finding one that doesn’t have a painted steel trailer.

Todd Masson sold his g3 for an avid bass boat. Avid is the same family that owned nautic star before they sold to master craft. My friend just bought a avid 23fs pro mag. It’s a nice and well built boat for sure.

I also have a buddy that just purchased a 23 Avid with the SHO Yammy. It's a damn fine boat and hauls arse. Haven't taken it in any chop yet.

I really liked the Rangers, but I can't get away from the Yamaha. They have been really good to me and old habits die hard.
I have found a H18 hull but the dealer said the motors are waiting to clear tariff and may not be available until September.
Going look at an AVID and G3 this week. Not certain if they have the SHO's in stock at this time

You really should look at the AVID. They put the fuel tank and weight under the seat.
One thing I always hated about the Xpress is they porpoise and bounce because of the weight on the back.

I know it is a different boat completely, but I am very happy with my Avid 23fs bay boat. It does 48 with a 150 with two people loaded to fish including full live wells, full ice chest and a full fish box. Avid must have stuffed a bunch of 175sho's somewhere because every new one I see has that motor lately.

That thing would be an animal with a flashed 200 if it runs 48 with a 150
