I bought a new to me boat a few weeks back and there was some old carpet under the gunnel. I’m looking to replace it with SeaDek or hydroturf or vinyl. Not sure what exactly what color to go with. I’m leaning towards Bahamas blue SeaDek. Right now it’s all stripped off. But I’m open to options. Here the boat for a reference:

Caribbean blue May go better actually... it looked gray in the picture..

I fished leeville Saturday, it was one of my better trips. Saw 100+ fish. Lots of groups of 7-10 fish. It was nuts.

I agree with jimbean. Go with gray or black. It would drive me nuts if the shades if blue were off and didn’t match. That’s just me though. Sweet boat btw

I had a light grey in my boat. It showed stains and was actually harder to get out than regular deck surface. I'd go as dark as possible while still matching....if that makes any sense.

Was that seadek for hydroturf? and what pattern?, flat, diamond etc..

It does, i had gray hydroturf on the floor in my last boat, and it wasnt very easy to clean. It may have been because it was the "flat" pattern, which was semi porous. Does anyone have experience with seadeck an how well it cleans?

Seems like Seadek is more popular with skiff owners these days. I don’t have any personal experience with Seadek, but I do like the hydroturf on the mud boat. You’d have to check, but I feel like the hydro turf is thicker than the seadek.

As far as color, I’d probably go Grey.

You can order swatches from hydroturf. I requested some and they got to me in a couple of days.

I have both on two different boats. The SeaDek is more durable and way easier to clean. The Hydro Turf is a little softer. If I had the option to do it again, I would've put SeaDek on my duck boat.

SeaDek is very easy to clean, especially with a pressure washer.

Mine has Seadek pads the full length of the cockpit. If I had to do it all over again I would have gone with a painted logo and reel pads only but the grey Seadek does cut down on some of the glare.

If you go with Seadek try to get the material custom cut if you can. It makes for a cleaner and easier install and a better looking final product. The tapered edges don't snag as easily and are less likely to peel.

Keeps your reels and your boat from getting banged/scratched up.

they usually have most boats scanned already.

I have a friend who owns gulf coast aqua traction which is similar to sea dek. he did a few pieces for my boat and he comes out using a scanner and scans all the contours and curves custom to your boat.

get my number from sea pickle and I can get you in touch with him. he is local from central so he can help you out quickly.

Pics

The helm pad is thick and nice on longer trips

There are a few different ways, you may want to shop around. You can get a template kit from Seadek. I think the kit is like $40 and it's a $165 minimum order for custom work.

Check with Castway customs. I've been told there is someone in New Orleans who can scan your boat.

Not sure what I had to be honest. Came from the factory with it on and I never really looked into it. It had a diamond pattern.
