re: Need new spinning reel..

I tie an improved clinch knot. Never had any problems with any other line. It's not a slip for sure. The line would come back frayed at the end.

Read some Amazon reviews and it seems that a few other people are having the same problem.

if you have a full spool on there why dont you just spool it from the other real. i would guess 60-70% of the line is still new under the other 30% you have been using. save you 20-30 bucks.

I appreciate the suggestions, but it wasn't a function of the knot slipping. These were tied to swivels and I didn't go through the trouble of even trimming the ends, they were probably an inch long or more.

Damn line was getting scratched up from oyster beds and was busting. Shimano charged me more just to give me the red arse!

Because I will fish the same line for more than one season. When the reel gumms up good I figure it's time for new line.

I bought two Penn Battle 3000s last month and love them.
I also bought a Penn Fierce in the 2000 size. It seems just as nice to me, but it has fewer bearings and an anti-reverse switch.

Ordered the stradic. I burn through the cheap reels and it's frustrating when you have a fish hooked and something fails. My wife does have a cheap quantum that has outlasted cheap shimanos and other brands

Interesting on the ci4.

Be sure to keep us informed on how it does longer term. I've heard reports of failures... hope not for your sake, and I'd like to get one too.

Fyi, for whoever cares, supposedly the Stradic 2500 and 3000 are exactly the same except for the spool size.

I use 20# powerpro braid, and think there's more line on there than I would ever use, but if you just want more line, get the 3000.

My braid got all messed up on my spool this weekend so its all coming off anyway. Not sure exactly how this happened but its a mess.

The standard Stradic is good, but not sure its really much better than the Symetre for $80 less. Maybe long term? Who knows?

ohhhh... Now you're gonna start bringing real fish into the situation huh?

I read that catching fish will greatly increase the wear on your reels, therefore I avoid reeling anything larger than bait and an occasional oyster on a poor day.

I have 3 cheap shimanos, the sienna I think. 1 of them the line gets caught in the roller and another one when you catch a fish the crank comes loose. I fish almost every week in the summer though.
