Need help with my pond

I’m hoping the you guys can help me clean up my pond. I’m tired of it looking like shite. Do you know what fish I can put in it to eat all the algae and weeds? Also, is there a good solar powered fountain/aerator out there? I appreciate any help.

We used a mossy oak biologic that worked way better than grass karp. Both times we put grass karp they ate all the grass then muddied the pond to ruins. 19 acre pond too.

Pondboss is gonna be your friend on that. Many professionals that post there. Grass carp often do more harm than good, and treat the symptom not the cause. They’ll ask the size of the pond, what specific weeds and algae you’re having problems with, if you’ve done water/bottom mud testing, and what your goals are. Could be as simple as getting some lime in it to balance out the pH or may be more complicated.

agree to not use carp, all they do is eat grass and algae, until there is nothing left and they ruin the balance of needing "some" vegetation for controlling oxygen levels and breeding area for minnows and grass shrimp

Many w+f programs at schools offer free literature on pond maintainence.

I have a 1 acre pond in the middle of my hay field. Water always stayed muddy until I limed my pasture. Then the water was crystal clear. Grass and algae took over. I tried tilapia. But they died out. Everyone hates them but I had a group of 5 nutria move in and the pond is clean now. They ate all the water vegetation and 25 ft around the bank it looks like I keep it mowed. They have been there 4 years and i havent noticed any damage from them..
