I recently inherited by grandfathers Remington 1100 12 gauge. Shot it the other day and it wouldn’t feed the last shell, so decided to break it down and really clean it.

As soon as i unscrewed the forearm, the spring and a homemade plug flew out. I know there is supposed to be a part that sits between the screw cap and spring, but i have no idea what it’s called so I can order it.

I’m sure someone on here can tell me and I certain appreciate it!

You need to check the age/manufacture date of your specific 1100. Somebody will be along to correct me but, there is a demarcation line with 1100s produced before and after the mid '80s. Additionally, if you try to find parts for these older 1100s you primarily get results for 1187s - been there, done that with a barrel replacement.

If this is an older model 1100, the end cap you are looking for is the one in the Brownell's video above. Also, if you need a new plug, this is what you want: 1100 Plug
