Need help getting in to gun safe. (Update pg. 3)

I was recently contacted by the wife of an old friend that passed passed last year. Their house was flooded, as was his gun safe. She called me because I used to help him clean the guns, and I was the last person to see what was in the safe. (It has about 15 guns). She was hoping i knew the combination but i dont remember it. We called several locksmiths but they charge outrageous rates, she just wants the guns out so we can clean them and they can preserve them. He hunted his entire life and there are tons of memories attached to these guns.
Does anyone have advice for how to get the guns out? Is a grinder with a cutting wheel the best approach here? Is this even possible?

Are you or anyone familiar with the locking mech on the door?
Drill a hole on the back side, use a scope and some long tools to get in and open door. Weld plate on hole when done.
Thats a cheap locksmith is going to do

Every minute she waits, the odds of salvage shrink. You need to move fast. Pay the locksmith if needed...

I was the last person to open the safe with him but it was over a year ago, i didnt pay any attention to the locking mechanism.

Destroy the safe, if necessary, to access the guns. The safe and the guns are both worthless and useless if you don't have the combination. Save one and lose the other or do nothing and lose both.

Pay the locksmith and move on.
Our safes were damaged pretty badly from water. Can imagine the filth on those guns

Cheap way, cutting torch or grinder. Cutting torch will probably burn it
Grinder take you time, start easy on the first layer of steel, until you see what the intermediate layer

Grinding and cutting the safe destroying it is cheaper than a locksmith?

Pop that bitch open with a giant crow bar. There are videos on youtube, and it's actually not very difficult.
I would love to try it, you actually have an excuse to do it.
Please video the process and report back.

She is elderly and hesitant to spend money on a locksmith considering all the other expenses mounting right now. I was just hoping there werw other options.

1. Get a 48" or longer pinch-type pry bar (sometimes just called a pinch bar). With it you can exert incredible amounts of force. Crow bars are not the way to go.
2. If you want to cut it, get, borrow or rent a plasma cutter. Don't go through the door. Go through the top. Just cut out piece large enough to take the guns through. A plasma cutter will allow you to cut more quickly and put much less heat into the item that you are cutting. Cutting into the top makes is much less likely that you will damage the stocks of long guns. If there is a shelf at the top of the safe, go though the back.

I had to get into mine after the flood and looking at the construction/mechanism, it would be easy to pry it apart or cut a thin slat about 2 inches deep and 10 inches across right below the dial with a grinder.
