Have narrowed it down to two choices, colt or Daniel defense.

The colt is a stripped down le6920 oem2 that I will customize and finish myself. Collapsible stock, free float handguard, rails, trigger guard, sights and magazines. Will probably be close to $1000 when I'm done.

When done will look something like this with optics TBD

Or my other option is last years model of a Daniel defense ddm4 v7 for $1200

The Colt rifle if it's really going to be $200 less than the DD rifle. Then use that $200 to pick up a Geissele trigger.

Government profile > M4 profile. +1 DD

Midlength gas > Carbine +1 DD

Clean upper > Extra writing on the side of upper +1 Colt

Don't like the rail on the DD just personal opinion.

That's what I don't like about the DD, the guard. Not crazy in love with it and for that kind of money, even for a good price, why I haven't bought it yet.

After you've put the parts you like in that Colt then the only practical difference left is the trigger and both have not-so-good factory triggers. The money saved on the Colt will almost buy one of the best practical trigger groups money can buy which would definitely notch it ahead of the DD rifle.

Build one yourself, might spend a bit more but you can get everything you want and nothing you don't.

And you get the added bonus of being able to work on it in the future since you get a really good understanding of it when building.

That's my $0.02, just finished building my first a few weeks ago and wouldn't change a thing. Spent around $1100, wanted to get under 1k, but I'm completely satisfied with the end result

If you are gonna buy the DDV7, get the Mlok rail on the new issue. Drop in a BCM charging handle and the Geissele trigger and you are done.

You'll have to do the same on the colt anyway. With only a minimal amount of savings, I'd go with the DD because it has a much better barrel.

Buy a sulzer firearms mk1 or another. It has everything already and is local.

I doubt that. You could take a FN, Colt, S&W, and a DD M4 barrel and, all things else equal, the differences in accuracy would be beyond any shooter's ability to perceive. Certainly beyond the MOA tolerances of the ammo used.
