I would like to take my kids on a fishing trip in the next month or so. I am looking for a charter fishing guide that we can drive to from Baton Rouge early in the morning and return that evening. Would like to keep the drive to less than 2 hours. We want to go after red fish and speckled trout. Any suggestions on place to go and service? Thanks.

Bowfishing Unlimited. Awesome guys and man what an experience.

ETA: oh for one evening. Hmm I don't know if they do that.

I am kinda a Hackberry Rod and Gun homer just cause I know the owners, they have good guides, and they usually catch fish.

I second and highly recommend Capt. Troy Robichaux. I've been on 12 trips with him over the past couple of years. He launches and fishes out of Golden Meadow. You can make it back to Baton Rouge before dinner. Troy is a top notch guide, and knows the marshes around Catfish Lake like the back of his hand. He has been fishing that area for 25 years and will put you on the fish.

He focuses heavily on quality and limits. We've caught limits of good reds every trip, and have had limits of trout on 8 out of 12 trips. He keeps his Yellowfin boat very clean and organized. You won't be disappointed in his service or equipment. Best I've found and will continue to go back.

I love HR&G as well but the only reason I use them is to learn more about Big Lake for when I go by myself. If I didn't regularly fish Calcasieu I would have a tough time justifying paying the same amount per person to catch less fish than I could on the east side of the state.

I dont know these guys at Bayou Charters but I have fished near them tons of times in Delacroix, I guess we fish alot of the same spots. They seem pretty persistent.
