My Honda lawnmower...now fixed.

Almost...
Hit a small stump in a clump of tall grass I usually don't mow very close to, bent blades and crankshaft. $27 for a blade set and $35 for a new OEM crank and a wasted afternoon in my future.

So, you hit a stump, but it's Honda's faulty equipment?
Enjoy your afternoon.
Enjoy your afternoon.

Next time get yourself a straight edge and bend it back for shits and giggles.
You'd be amazed how many times you can get it just right.

Did I say it was Honda's equipment that was at fault? Pretty sure nothing in my post even hinted at that but maybe your reading comprehension skills (lack thereof) lead you to that conclusion.

Nah, parts are cheap and it would be more effort to try that than just pulling it apart and fixing it without the risk of causing more damage.

That’s good.
My wife bought hers when she got a house, it’s ~10 yrs old. At about 5 yrs I topped off the oil.
Just changed filters and slapped on a new carb this year and it’s back to running Luke a top.

Dude...as much as I respect and upvote most of your posts...your thread title is pretty misleading...
as if you're saying it only lasted 2 years against most others usual long lasting experiences with Honda Mowers...
Would have been less misleading had your title read "I broke my Honda lawnmower like a dumb arse"

It really isn't, pretty tongue-in-cheek which should be rather obvious if you are the type that thinks first and posts second. If I was blaming Honda I would have said so (while filing out the 3-Year Residential Warranty claim) and left out the part about hitting the stump.

I thought the same thing
This is like saying “My F150 lasted 25,000 miles” after they got in a wreck. It’s just misleading.

This thread got bitchy quick.
Weather needs to cool the frick down so people won't be acting like this.

I change my oil and air filter every year and burn only ethanol free. Starts on the first pull 80% of the time.

Anybody reading your thread title would think you implied the Honda engine somehow failed early in its lifespan, that's the only reason I clicked on the thread, to see what in the engine failed, only to learn it ran fine until the blade hit a tree root.

My biggest problem with mowers is the decks rusting out, and I clean my mower after every use to keep from having grass and dirt on the underside just sitting there between cuts.
Next mower I get will have auto undercoating applied to the bottom of the deck to help protect it a bit more from rust accumulating.
I got the mower I currently have after Katrina took the one I had in my back shed. Shame of it is, the motors still working like a charm, but even trying to find another deck is almost impossible as I've called every shop around and they simply don't hang on to them.
The holes in the deck are now covered in sheetmetal and pop riveted to the deck to keep grass from flying up in my face when cutting grass.

I thought the dense ones hung out in the OT and PB.

When I pull the crankshaft you'll see exactly where it has failed. Also might see if there actually is any undue wear since this mower has only been used for two full seasons on a small yard on Honda 10W-30. Oil had a light metallic sheen but then again these residential GS engines don't have bearings or cylinder liners so it's probably normal. I'm going to measure everything against what the shop manual specs, if things look like they're wearing more than they should then I'll see if I can find a S3 type GSV190 to swap in down the road.

Cleaning so frequently is probably why the deck is rusting out, giving the abrasion of use a shot at bare steel every time you mow.

That stuff won't last half a season. Instead of cleaning so frequently, just do it at the end of the season and just use WD-40 and a plastic scraper to get the worst crud off. Or invest in a Honda with a Nexite deck.
