Moving 2 large gun safes

My wife, her brother, her dad, and myself are heading to TN tomorrow to pick up some furniture (and other miscellaneous items) that were inherited. Our plan is to drive up there then rent a moving company truck to bring back the large items. The 2 big items are 2 very large Cannon gun safes that are still on the pallets. Initial idea was to rent a truck with a lift gate and a pallet jack. However, it seems we cannot find any trucks for a one-way rental that have lift gates.
Looking for ideas on the easiest and cost effective way to move them. I THINK Uhaul has the lowest deck height which is definitely a plus. I've also fund people suggesting to not use the ramp but instead use a moving blanket or carpet and just tip the safe into the truck on its side. Anyone have experience like with moving one like this? Should we try to rent a tandem trailer to load them into instead?

I would tip it in and slide it. Then you wouldn't have to worry about strapping it down to keep it from tipping (still need to strap it to keep it from sliding)

First
Take doors off.
Moving with dowel rods and rolling on them is helpful.
Dolly up a ramp takes a couple guys.
If it rolls or goes to fall, let it go. They are heavy and will crush u

push that bitch in there and stand her back up...
eta: if you got air compressor handy, deflate rear tires as best as possible to lower the rear down as much as possible

Sell them on Craigslist. I wouldn't want to have to load them in a truck without a lift.

Use wooden dowels to roll it around. When you tip it over in the truck, be sure you have something under it so you can get ahold on it to stand it back up.

Air Mover
See if you can rent one of these from a rental company. easy peasy with some plastic or cardboard

I have slid them on blankets and one man can do it.
Just lay down on back onto blanket, gather corners and pull, when you get to truck stand back up and tip towards truck and slide it into truck top end first. That part will take 2 or 3 folks.

Don't transport them with the doors closed. If you trip the inner lock, or whatever it's called, you'll have to drill them to get them fixed.

Me and my cousin moved a 50 gun liberty with just us and a furniture dolly.
Was it easy, no. Did we get it into a trailer? Yes.

I used 2 big blankets and a strap and by myself unloaded a 64 gun Cannon from the back of a truck down to a piano dolly over to a door, up about 24" into a house and into position. I took a beer break here and there and in about an hour total grunt time I had it done. Gravity, leverage, and my body weight as a counter anchor worked great once I figured out those tipping points.

Use a wooden dolly. Just get 2-3 people to lift up one side at a time and slide it right under. That has worked for me in the past.

Keep the safe covered with a blanket or move it at night so strangers can’t see that it is a gun safe.

Find a rental company up there that you can rent a bobcat with forks. That would pick it up and set it in the truck fairly easy. Depending on where they are at (under carport or in house) it might take all the work out of the job.

Thanks for all the responses. Some good ideas in here to go off of. I do have 4 of the small furniture dollies I can put underneath them along with some moving blankets and very large pieces of cardboard. Right now they are in a closed in garage so I may pickup a heavy duty furniture dolly with the compression strap to assist getting them outside. Then we'll play it by ear either tipping it into the back of the truck or laying it down and rolling it up the ramp.
Do you know at what point the doors need to be left opened?

For my safe we used the lowest trailer uhaul had. the ramp was long so the incline wasn't too bad. Had that, 4 guys, and an appliance dolly to pull it up. Wasn't too bad.

Just remember a bunch of malnourished Egyptian slaves built the pyramids and scraggly Englishman moved Stonehenge into place. Quit your whining and put your back into it.
Seriously though, if you have a couple of folks to help you then I highly recommend the forearm forklift straps. LINK
You would be very surprised at the weight you can lift with this suckers, especially if you are just lifting a short distance to a dolly or other rolling device.

Whenever you start knocking it around or when its possible it could fall over.
