I am headed up there this weekend and thinking about trying the river in the blue zone south of the Dam. I have fished the lake previously with some success on smallmouth, but interested in giving the river a try this time. I fish out of my kayak either way. Is the river worth the shuttle ride and all that? Any suggestions or advice? I won’t be carrying a fly rod.

They got some big browns in there. I see you wont have a fly rod. Bummer because they love big streamers.
Also i get a shuttle for any river when given the choice.

I go there about 3-4 times a year and fish the blue zone, usually around Hickory Campground Area H. I always catch the limit of rainbows. I cant tell you about a kayak. I just use waders.

Thanks. I may just wade and use conventional tackle. Catching trout sounds like a lot of fun and they eat good.
