Just finished a patio in my back yard And tried to sit out and enjoy it this Memorial Day evening but the mosquitos decided I couldn’t. Does anyone have an effective mosquito repellent? My family has always used citronella candles and tiki torches but I never found those very effective. I was looking online and came across the thermacell radius but no idea if it really works

Thermacell works for. 15' But it's dispensed using heat which rises so if you have it on a patio table the mosquitos will tear up your ankles.

I put the thermacell under our swing and on the opposite side under the rocking chairs. No problems.

I saw a new product at the local feed store the other day. You add warm water to a solution tube they provide and shake it. Hang it on your fence away from the house. This tube attracts the mosquitos. They drink the solution. It sterilizes them - their eggs don't hatch. So it breaks the life cycle of the mosquitos near your home. It probably takes 2 weeks to start becoming effective, but it lasts for 3 months. Its made by a company in Laurel, MS called Spartan Mosquito.

It came highly recommended. I bought one for my dad. He lives near wetlands and the mosquitos can be brutal.

Good Luck

I install and service automatic misting systems. Have been doing them since 1995. They work very well. If you are interested you can email me.

I’ve used thermacell products sparingly throughout my life down here in southern Louisiana at the house and at the camp, and honestly I just don’t see any type of product being 100% effective at keeping mosquitos off of me. Just my opinion, so I reserve the right to be completely wrong here

Also, I’ve noticed that I’m ALWAYS the first and sometimes the only person to get bit. Sometimes we can go outside with a group of people, at any time of the day, and I’ll get tore up from the knees down. I really don’t get it
