Mixing and matching inverter generators in parallel

I have a champion generator I got last year. So far I love it. It’s only 2000 watt but it runs the essentials in my home as of now just fine. I expect down the line I am going to need more capability so I’ll likely run something in parallel.
How much does my second generator need to match my first? Champions website seems to indicate a little bit of flexibility but does anybody have any real world experience? Do I have to just match wattages or can I run a 2000 and a 4000 together?

Output power difference shouldn't matter.
Inverters are supposed to output constant voltage and frequency regardless of engine speed. When paralleling generators those are the two things that need to match.
Make sure your amp rating on the paralleling gear is sufficient.

Can't help you with the hookup but while researching I finally found a tri-fuel portable generator. Been looking for one since I have natural gas at my house. Good luck!

is your champion generator dual fuel (gasoline and propane)? Been researching these and curious about how well these work and advantages to just pure gasoline

the only real benefit is fuel stability and availability. When considering "fuel cost per watt" propane is not as efficient as gasoline since the power output is reduced by as much as 10%. I suppose if you're only running 1000 watts on a generator capable of 1800 watts, this may not matter much. You also don't have to refuel the generator as often since you'd likely be running it off a 5 gallon propane tank instead of the onboard 1.1 gallon gas tank on these small inverters.
