Looking at onyx, the city of Mandeville owns most of that marsh land in between the tchefuncte and the causeway on the north side of the lake, but it really doesnt specify whether or not it is open to the public. Anyone have any info on this area?

I was interested in this myself and ultimately found this which prevented me from going forward with it.

It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge and/or hunt in the area south of LA Highway 22, and west of West Causeway Approach, to the western boundary of Bigner Road, south to the border of Lake Pontchartrain, Ward 4, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. (b) Enforcement. This section shall be enforced by the sheriff. (Code 1998, § 15-208.00; Ord. No. 85-527, 11-21-1985)

This. I think they arrested someone hunting south of the Sanctuary a few years ago - caught him on game cameras set up by sheriff.

No ducks there. Only sulfur gas.

It is private land.
Edit: on Madisonville side of Tchefuncte.

Used to hunt it in middle/high school. Before City bought it my uncle leased it.

Had some good hunts out there...

It is in fact closed to hunting now that the City owns it

What about bow hunting or fishing back there? Or is it a no tresspassing piece of property?

I’d imagine it’s no trespass...

Pretty sure the dude who was arrested a couple years back was bow hunting

We used to take a boat back into the rice fields south of Madisonville and duck hunt back in the 1970’s. It was like a war zone at sunrise with all the hunters. I remember there were some cows that wandered around out there - weird.

There’s probably a Starbucks there now.
