So, basically, I need a daytime view-able, waterproof display for a project I'm on. It occurred to me that the perfect display would be something like what's on a depthfinder. In fact, Lowrance makes a cable to pump video into their units. Would any of you guys know of a less expensive way to get this done? I don't need transponder, nav, or anything else more than a bullet proof display.

The good thing about Lowrance is you can buy just the head unit without any accessories. There are plenty on the used market sold that way as well. I'd find out which generation and model will do what you want and start there.

These guys have several used head units for sale and also several on Ebay and FB Marketplace. Good luck.

I have had two lowrance units take on water. They are water resistant but far from water proof. The new live unit I installed seems to be a lot better with water intrusion.

What are you trying to use this for because they have many different things you can use for a display for video that would be cheaper and easier to operate.

Just throwing it out there but it could probably be easier and cheaper to use a Bluetooth wireless camera and a iPad but I am sure a more permanent solution could be found

Again, these are giant fork trucks that stay out in the yard. Would need to be more weatherproof, which is why I was thinking the fishfinder way..

Like I said they have tons of other solutions on the market that I believe will fit your needs better and cheaper than a fish finder. Here is another example of a weather proof video monitor
