re: Lost my hunting partner to COVID this am
Got up at 6 am to enjoy a cup of coffee at the camp overlooking the pond. Got about half a cup when I got the call that things had worsened over the night and he had coded. He fought back and lasted long enough for my mom, his mom and brother to make it there. At that point it was futile and I let him go on his final adventure.

That's hard to read brother. 63 doesn't seem near as old as I used to think it was. I'm sure you will, but go see your mom a little more than usual. She'll need it

re: Lost my hunting partner to COVID this am
So sorry to read this. Last post I saw about his condition sounded like he was showing signs of getting better so I've thought and hoped since then that no news was good news.
There is nothing on this earth better and more valuable than a close father-son relationship growing up in the outdoors and in all aspects of life. Your posts leave no doubt that you and your father had that greatest of all treasures.
Our talks about anything and everything were the hardest to give up. I can't count the times I kept picking up the phone to call or text him , only to have to put it back down.
Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your family.

Very sorry about your pop. Prayers for you and your family. I’m sure he’s resting and getting the place ready for all the hunting and fishing stories y’all will tell together one day.

Tough story there, smack. The hard part is realizing that you are the lucky one that knew him as well as you did. The easy part is all the more important in the future, take care of your mother....

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through that. Try to focus on all the good times. In looking at the pics, you've had a few. Crack one open for him the next time you're out and take enjoy that first sip. I wish that I could say something to make it easier Hawg, but unfortunately I cannot. Many prayers to you and your family.

Smack, I lost my dad about 35 years ago. It gets better but there are always moments that a memory can make your eyes misty.
Sorry for your loss.
