To my friends on the OB that have seen me post about my dad's battle with COVID for over a month, I had to make a call that no son ever wants to. At 8:15 this morning, after taking a sudden turn for the worse overnight and failing all heroic measures, I had to give permission to let my dad's battle end. He loved the outdoors and his family. And will have a celebration of his life that will be fitting to his love of the outdoors and his country ways.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Seeing the recent pics you've posted, I hope you are able to relish the awesome times the two of you shared over the years.

God bless you and family brother.
I’ve known two other families that have had to make that call.
I had a three week bout with it but never went beyond constant fever.

I have and will continue to do so. He was only 63, but had me when he was 16. So, I had him for 47 years and worked side by side with him for the last 18.

On the upside, I was going through some of his stuff with my mom and never realized what he had stashed in his hunting room and damn near ever nook and cranny in their house and garage. My brother and I will never have to buy hunting and fishing gear EVER again. And the man would not be without coffee. I can use a different thermos every day for the next 30 years before I have to reuse one. He had a helluva year this year in the woods and on the water. His best ever in fact. In September, he finally got a boy after having all girls for grandchildren. My youngest had my grandson and his great grandson. He'd crossed off everything on his bucket list and was down to asking mom for vacation ideas. He made the most of his 63 years and made a huge impact on south Arkansas and leaves behind a legacy that very few people could ever dream of.

Don’t know you, but condolences to you and your family. Most sorry that you had to make the call. But bless you for your courage and maturity in letting him find peace from his illness.
Hope you and yours find relief and comfort in the coming weeks. I’ve been there. It sucks.

I can only imagine how difficult that is and I'm so sorry for your loss. Earlier this week, we fishermen in East Texas lost Lake Fork guide and legend Mark Pack to Covid. He was in ICU for a month and the reports never seemed to provide much hope. My buddy and I fished with him on December 3 and we all were fine. There is no doubt it can be a terrible disease.

I feel for you Smackover, lost my Pops one month ago to the same thing. Unlike you I didn’t have to make the call but I thought that I was going to have to. No win situation in a lot of ways.
Prayers to you and your family in hopes that the pain of loss subsides as quickly as possible brother.

Sorry to hear that smack. I've known too many pass over this virus. No family, but still good friends.

Good bless you and your family.
