Want to try and chase some reds and bass tomorrow (and maybe luck into some trout) and I have never launched or fished either area. Is either spot better than the other, or more importantly any places to avoid bc too shallow or lots of underwater obstructions? Also what is best launch to use around those parts? TIA for any tips in either area.

We used Segnette for Catouatchie and Salvador. Be careful if the waters out. But we always caught bass.

Salvador can get rough real quick. When the wellhead were still up in the middle we crushed the redfish out there

Thanks, in a boat I'd rather not be in in any type of chop so may steer clear of that. My try the Pen and or bayou rigolets and head south into turtle bay. Once again wind and chop will dictate where I go. Going exploring I guess.

I fish Salvador all the time in a 17’ Bass Tracker. No problems. Just use common sense. Shallows and stumps along banks good for reds use weedless gold spoons. If calm, same bait at well heads. I use Pier 90

There have been several times I crossed Salvador in a 21ft bass boat and shite got wild on the way back. It doesn't take but a 15mph wind to get that thing going. And if a storm passes by and really stirs it up good luck

Water can get pretty clean in the fall.

There is a patch of roseau cane on the left when you enter the Pen from the waterway on the south end; it always has reds when the tide is moving. You can fish that entire southern shoreline for reds. Go into Bayou Dupont and fish any narrow cut and there could be reds.
