An suv with a trailer makes FAR more sense than a 2wd truck

Wtf lol

I need a bed but no need for 4wd, like 90% of the rest of this board probably. No hooking up a trailer for the 40 times a year I haul lumber or the 50 times a year I take trash off.

If I see a hole I can't go through, I just don't go through it

And in my 25 years of driving in LA, never once have I needed 4wd for "snow"

What year and what axle options?

well, I didn't run his VIN, to find out that info, he bought it new a couple of years ago. I don't know what engine it has either, it's not my truck. I know it has automatic transmission.

Both? At the same time?

I didn't see, I was still at the house when he tried to back up the hill, but since you asked, I walked out there and checked his ruts. It's just a single rut in 4 different places. So it appears that he has an open axle. Did you have a point with this?

I don't make points with questions. The year and axle are meaningful because without either limited slip differential or lock, you're going to spin one tire. CF My Cousin Vinny.

In my experience, most 2wd 1/2 ton pickups have open axles, so most of them are really 1wd. You can always add a locking spool. I doubt he will do that though. My driveway to the shop is pretty steep and narrow, I doubt he will need to back up anything similar very often.

I use it maybe just a few times a year. I was really glad to have it after hurricane delta. I was one of the few people able to get out of the neighborhood.

In my uncle's case, he needed a gravel grip.

Bilstien 5100 set to 2.1 or 2.8 is the best option.
