Looking for another inshore rod, something that can throw 1/8-1/2oz for trout. Currently I have a few of the Offshore Angler Redfish Exteremes from BPS in medium/fast. They are $90 and do a pretty good job. Ithwy are rated for 1/4oz but will throw an 1/8th ok if needed.

What do y’all use? I know Falcon Costals have a good rep. Maybe a St. Croix or Shimano, Redtail, Hurricane?? I use a baitcaster and would like to stay under 150.

Thanks!

If you are going pay $100+, look for a good warranty, rods break all the time and a lot of rod makers are jumping ship when it comes to replacing rods. I like Falcon personally, used to go with Shimano, but their warranty turned to garbage.

This. I love the teramar rods, but last year I had two break in one trip and They were honest breaks, neither were my fault.

I paid 50% of retail to replace them and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Next time, I'll look elsewhere.

Have a few Falcons that I love, but All-Star is my go-to if I dont want to splurge on a nicer one. Theyre perfectly fine on all the baitcasters that I have.

Look at the concept omen series, $120.
I have only broken two rods is the last 15 years, one was my fault. Ride them inside your truck and you will greatly reduce breakage.

I have some G Loomis E6X Casting rods and I love them. Do great with trout and bass.

Hell, I probably have too many and need to sell a few.

Cajun custom rods. Veteran owned. Check out the video of their Revenant rod. The guy literally smashes it against a tree and it won't break.

Have used Falcon Coastals for my casting set ups.

I bought one of the Lews inshore (white with blue Winn grips) for my popping cork rig and it has become my favorite. Have caught specks to bull reds on it.

Was thinking about giving the casting one a try.

Thanks all. I had considered stepping up in price to a St Croix Avid if I could justify it. I just wonder what the difference in a $200+ rod is. Thoughts?

For throwing 1/8oz for trout, I'm thinking med-light with fast action. Sound about right?
