Just bought a new BAR Mark ll Safari and need ammo recs. I run Hornady American Whitetail, Accubonds and Partitions in my other guns.

My Weatherby Vanguard S2 loves 150 grain Hornaday American Whitetail or Winchester super X. Both are plenty accurate, but I’d give the edge (based solely on the number of DRT’s) to the Hornaday.

The 130s also work very well.

+1 for eld-x. I’f you can find them
ETA: son shot a doe on opening youth weekend. Bullet went through feeder leg and dropper her.
I’d post a pic, but have no clue how to.

I have the same rifle without the BOSS and it is a sweet shooter. I am getting 3/4 to 1” groups with the Federal Fusion 150’s. Congrats on a fine rifle, it’s a shame what they did with the MKIII’s.

Son killed a bunch of deer with the 150 ballistic tip. It shot the best in his .308.

My favorite is the 168 grain Barnes TTSX but the 308 I shoot the most don’t like them. I am currently shooting the 178 grain ELD-X in it and have had ok results on deer but not as good of results on hogs. The Barnes are definitely better on hogs if you don’t have a ear hole shot. Actually debating on swapping barrels so I can shoot the Barnes due to I like them so much. I have had trouble with blood trails in the ELD-X on anything not DRT.

Try the 130s or 150s and see if your rifle likes those better before swapping barrels.
