Put out a camera and a 5 gallon feeder at a stand that we haven't hunted all year to see what was moving for a last week doe. First 200 hundred pics is several does and 2-3 small bucks and a 6 point that I've passed on several times. Then on 1-12-2020 and 1-13-2020 around 9:00 p.m. Ole big boy shows up, He's huge, would be the biggest buck I've ever taken.

Plan A) do I just ease in the area Friday-Saturday-Sunday and hope for the best or do I put out some "attractant" to lure him out. If plan B) waht do you fellows recommend.

I realize this deer didn't get this big being dumb, so late season help please.... Or what would you guys do?

Not all bad if not harvested since he will be around to take next year.

If he is only attending your stand at 9pm,you probably won't get him until you know where he is coming from. I hope you will get lucky but it doesn't sound like it. He will be bigger next year.

I would change the order..

WIND, then food

A guy put out 100# of corn and rice bran yesterday in front of one of my cameras, went from limited traffic to 3 shooter bucks, does and a bunch of ones that need a year or two. Food works however in my experience without wind in your favor you won't see a big buck

Those weren't meant to be in order of importance. More big bucks have fallen to food post rut from Canada all the way to mexico. They are easier to pattern, more predictable and less wary. Its like their brain is fried post rut. The rut is fun and exciting but now is the time to kill the big guys.

Ease into stand about 8:00 and thermal scope. Make sure you wait until daylight to take the grip-n-grin though.

Food at this time of year is the ticket. Unless you have a lot of greenery planted the deer have to hunt for what’s out there. No acorns left not much good browse. I can go almost anywhere on 300 acres these days put out 100 lbs of rice bran and it won’t last 24 hours.
It’s so muddy out there fresh trails are easy to find. Get on big boys trail from where your camera is and back track.
