Anybody ever been there? I've driven through many years ago. Job recruiter wants to talk to me about an opening. I know it's high plains and cold most of the year. I like to hike, camp, fish, etc., so I wonder what would it be like to live there.

I stayed nearby at the V-Bar ranch. I love the area and would move there in a heartbeat.

Spent the night there at the end of May on my way driving to Seattle.

It was windy and cloudy when I arrived and I woke up to snow on the ground the next morning.

It’s cold but I think Wyoming is one of the last true American West states left.

You found the right place when the weather is nice. Fort Laramie is awesome as well. My cousin's wife is from there. Visited a few times and it's been awesome; especially the outdoor side.

Love me some Wyoming. We have a place in Devil's Tower - about 4 hours north of Laramie.

If you like the outdoors, Wyoming is a great place. Cold though. Low in Laramie Thursday is -2 with snow

We driven through there numerous times. It's a small western town with all that entails. There's the University and that makes it a bit more diverse. It's pretty high elevation (7,000'), and the wind blows ALL THE TIME.

It's cold in the winter, and hot, well warm anyway, and dry in the summer. There are lots of outdoor opportunities within a very short distance. The Medicine Bow national "forest" is some of scenic in that area.

It's about 1 hour to Cheyenne (a bit of a nicer town minus the oil refineries) and a couple hours to Denver if you need a big city fix.

The wind sucks but outside of that would be a great place for an outdoorsman.

My sister went to college there. I loved it when I visited. Also passed through to and from Yellowstone. That’s God’s country up there. I’d go.

I worked there a lot.... one day going to the job I told my coworker just look at that, that’s not something you see every day. A man was riding a cow to the McDonald’s, he tied it up to a light pole and went in.

The wind is stupid. To the west, it’s called snowy range for a reason.
World class fly fishing close by. College sports with the Cowboys being there. Not far to Ft Collins when weather is good. Do it.

The question is whether you can handle the winter. Not only the severity but the length and the darkness. Probably would help having people in the South to visit when you start to go crazy. In the summer it will be pure paradise. Montana/Wyoming is where i want to be.

I was just there last week. It was -20 degrees one day and 40 degrees two days later. The I-80 was shut down on Saturday, There were 60 mph winds on the interstate and a healthy blizzard on Friday.

That being said, there is a ton to see and do up there. Trout fishing is absurd and the town is full of bars and restaurants. If you like the outdoors, you need to at least go up there and hear them out. Trout fishing will pick up in about 30 days. I'll be up there for that for sure. The next 3 months are "mud season" and I think that is self explanatory.

WY Road Info

Plenty of people were out and about last week in town. I think the town is cool, and U of WY is there.
