Landed fish debate
Buddy hooked bass and after lifting on boat it fell off hook, flopped a little and jumped back in water. Can you consider this a catch?
I told him he never even touched fish so it doesn't count as a landed fish. What say you?

If it's on the boat, it's a catch.

You can. Touching a leader on many species is considered a catch.

You can say "I caught this big fish" but I don't think you can say "I caught a XXLb'r" unless it was incredibly apparent and you have a second person cofirming that they agree it was at least above XXlbs or inches.

if you don't release it and it gets away on it's own, not a catch.

This...so yes

In OP scenario...its a clean catch and release.

I'd count it as a catch, but if it was my buddy I'd sure give him hell.

You could’ve offered to net it for him a-hole.

I let fish do that if I am not keeping. I would not count it if it needed to go to the scales.
