And alot of trainers are using cut ears and e collars instead of slingshots and shotguns.

These slingshots and shotguns were not used when a dog wad 200 yards out. There may be a benefit to an e collar, but I bet my bottom dollar they are vastly overused.

I have been around labs for 30 plus years, training with my dad and his club since I was 8. I have seen some barbaric shite from popular trainers

Yea Ive got a hidden fence and he definitely stays where he's supposed to in the yard. He does not like the shock (it only took one or two zaps). He's 3 and just gets overly excited around me and other people. He knows some basic commands but goes ape shite trying to get pet all the time.

NimbleCat, I'm in a summer class in oxford right now. I'm from baton rouge and would've loved to go to LSU but it's a long story. Regardless, I have a great lab that I had flown down from Minnesota thats out of the Cosmos Concertos Charlie line and I need to have him (Meaux) finished since chuck McCall never had the opportunity to do so. Who is this this trainer in Oxford?

Show up at the Beacon and he has a Tahoe full of labs. If I remember he gets there at 7:30. He leaves the doors open and they just sit in there and watch everyone. He doesn't train anymore, but he can steer you in the right direction. He is a close friend and he loves to talk about dogs....be prepared to listen.

Bear Creek Kennels hands down...My brother got a female from one of their litters and is doing great hunting. Steve also collar condition and force fetched my dog and did a wonderful job. We both are running them this weekend in Pineville for a field trial. Can't wait for duck season to open!!!

Jason glad you got Chuck's number. If you have more questions I have been in the Hunt test duck hunting training game for quite some time. If I can help you please feel free to e-mail me. There isn't a trainer in the LA/MS/AL/AR area that I am not familliar with.

Went and visited Bear Creek today and saw two of their studs. Very nice dogs. Am seriously contemplating it. The first litter due looks nice. Stud dog is very stocky, has a block head, and looks really good. It's a english lab by the way.

His dad was player and the mom was Ivy. I really didn't know much about either of them but liked the way player looked and worked. Puppies were also chasing live birds and bringing them back.

I hear some dwarfism is starting to be bred into labs.

And it stays with them. My big male spent a lot of time with him and is now 4. That dude is still waking me at 6 am. My little 2 year old gyp never trained with them and could sleep till 10.
