Kent Bismuth Loads

Going to Reelfoot in 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone has had their hand with these new shells. I got about 6 boxes off a buddy and it cost me around .80 cent a shell. Any recommendations on type of choking. I'm gonna pattern my own gun but I was wondering if anyone has experience with these new shells.

obviously a good duck gun needs to be patterned, but i really believe people overthink chokes and loads. i've had the same two choke tubes in my gun since the day i bought it and after 20 years i couldnt tell you what they are. i just shoot whatever shells we have at the camp or what's cheap at academy
shot selection is way more important than shell selection

The shells are 12ga. 3" 1 3/8 #3s at 1450fps.
I feel the same way about the choke. Always just use the modified for all wing shooting. But I ask about the choke bc I have heard that Bismuth is fairly different when it comes to choke performance.

check out Boss shells website (they make bismuth shells only). They give a really good explanation on the types of chokes to use.
Please give us some feed back after your hunt...I've heard that the bismuth rounds have great knock down power.

FWIW - Kent steel patterns better than most out of my Carlsons waterfowl chokes. Their powders seem to burn noticeably cleaner in the gas piston in my maxus. Have not shot their bismuth loads.

You can’t be serious.

I shoot Rio bismuth in my old Auto-5 and it patterns best with a full choke. I notice Boss shotshells also recommend a tighter choke constriction with their bismuth shells.
That being said, definitely pattern your gun with whatever you plan to use and try different chokes.

I am! tested a bunch of shells and liked Kent the most. Did not test Hevi metals though. I bought some on sale end of last year, and they did great knocking birds out of the air. Never patterned them, killed ducks with them, gonna clean my gun anyway, probably gonna stick with them...but this thread is/was about Kent...
