It appears that the time to start weeding, feeding, etc is around the corner. My grass is starting to come back in already but feel its a tad too early to weed and feed just yet. Also may need to replace a few plants in the landscaping too.

I didn't see a thread on this yet, but didn't do a thorough search either.

Also, I laid my flagstones yesterday and will be planting the dwarf mondo grass this week. Will bump my thread and update with pics when that's complete.

I got out this weekend and trimmed my crepe myrtles and knockouts. grass looks horrible, guess i will attack it head on once it greens up a bit.

I've got a buttload of work to do. Need to pull up two sagos, get a couple loads of dirt, plant/overseed grass...and i would really like a ray to smooth out my yard without a box blade.

Has anyone ever tried those rollers you fill with water?

When do I need to put out the crabgrass preventative? Every year my backyard gets absolutely take over with crabgrass. Everyone says my centipede should choke it out but let me tell you, that ain't happenen. Then I have to cut my grass like twice a week or it bogs down my mower. Really hoping to get the timing right this year.

After the last cold snap IIRC. I sprayed weed free zone on 3/1 last year to start killing that stuff.

I asked this question a few weeks ago and was told i should've put it out in November. Is this false?

Any landscape/yard care advice for a new homeowner? I bought a house in October so I haven't had to do much yard maintenance throughout the winter.

Whatever you do, be sure to start at daylight to maximize the time in your yard.

Correct! It is a great time to weed, though. I'm going to hit my yard with some weed free zone this week, then my second application of crab grass pre-ermergent.

You will need to post where you live (area not address) and what type of grass you have in your yard or at least what kind you are trying to grow

I went with weed free zone Sunday. I am waiting on the results. I mowed down everything and bagged the leaves. I got the trimming and round upping done! Ive got an oleander that seems to have not made it, and some bananas to cut back. All in all I'm in a good spot for this season.

I need to spray the clovers in my yard and get ready to plant a ton of new grass. I cleaned up the trees that were hanging over the fence and creating an all day shade zone. Ground under it is just dirt now. Then there's all of the areas that my dog has torn up. I need grass there as well

I am in the Cenla area. I have centipede and just want it to stay green. I am also looking for some hardy, easy plants to put in the flowerbed.

My back yard is greening and growing my front is still mostly brown. I cut my grass tall...should I ever do a short cut after winter to chop down some of the dead grass? Should I just de thatch?

I have some azaleas that were planted when the house was built 3 years ago and they haven't grown at all.

Not exactly sure how you want to "shape" them. If you want a squared off or round hedge then yes. If you want an elephant sculpture then no
Make sure you use pine straw to mulch the bed. They like the acidity.
