I usually plant 1st or 2ed weekend of October, but this dry cool spell has me itching to do it this weekend, was planning on just doing my second disking then running the tiller over them this weekend and plant next, but rain creeping back into the 10 day forecast, it would be a busy weekend to get it all done but could happen
What say you…… who is planting this weekend, next or already planted!

I’m shooting for October 10-15. I’ve had no luck planting this early in the past.

Gonna plant a few bow plots in woodville Saturday . The bulk of them will get done 2nd/3rd week of October. I’m planting my plots at home in Amite county on the 4th/5th .

I'm looking at planting the 2nd week of October as well. I put the disc to about 12 acres this weekend.
You may want to check out the Mossy Oak Gamekeepers roundtable food plot discussion podcast. They presented some good information on food plots. They recommended discing plots when they are wet to make it easier to break the hard pan and turn over at least 6" of soil. They explained that when you get a soil test, the recommended amount of fertilizer, lime etc. per acre is designed to be spread in 6" of soil. If your soil test calls for 1 ton of lime per acre and you only spread it 3" deep, then you have put out twice as much lime as was called for.

We are planting 25% of our plots this weekend. Just to have some early grass. Then the other 75% the weekend of October 9th. (Two weeks later).

Try for the last week in sept to mid oct each yr depending on work schedules and rain forecast. I would rather have a rain within 2 days of planting on the front end or back end of that window than not having it at either side of it or the middle of it.
We have never had worms planting at that time and the fronts seem to start occurring at about a 8-15 day cycle with just enough rain to keep them going.

Planted mid Sept last year and it worked out great. Planted half last weekend and hoping to plant the rest this Monday coming.

I would recommend busting them one of those weekends then coming back to plant 2 weeks later. Best way we've found to kill/starve the worms and have good moisture in the bed.
