In a firearms transfer, will my FFL automatically be able to see if the gun is stolen?

Is this part of the NICS system?

I hope so as I'm buying a firearm off Gunbroker and I want to make sure there are no issues. The seller is apparently not a FFL as he does not have the FFL indicator next to his monicker. He does have 300+ positive ratings.

NO. Before buying, get the numbers and ask your sheriff to run the numbers.

In Louisiana, State Police are much more accommodating.

They don’t run serial numbers, they record them on the form but that’s it.

You can ask the seller for the serial # and run it yourself. I’m sure the police will do it for you.

I’m not sure if someone with a stolen gun would be selling it on gunbroker. That would be worthy of worst criminal award for sure, but if it makes you feel better get the S/N and check as previously mentioned.

Meth heads don't use logic or have an abundance of forethought.
