It's all good. Just thought it was too coincidental. I'm always searching craigslist. You see one pop up from time to time, but they get snatched up pretty quick if its a good deal.

Yeah that guy you linked the other day had his gone pretty quick. Got a lead on an older ride135 the other day from down south, top notch yak, but a little longer than I am looking for. Im back to square one man, time is my enemy at the moment.

Not sure where exactly this guy is located, but it's not a bad deal or a bad kayak:

Pelican Castaway 116 - $350

I fished out of one of those for years all over LA. You can't stand up in it, but it's plenty good enough to do what you want to with it.

Thanks for the heads up, not a bad looking rig. I am back to SOT vs. SINK, just thinking that the SINK will be much better for duck hunting since it is more contained. On the flip side of that, not be as easy to fish out of, and everyone says to stay away from them....I am going to get with LSURoss soon to try out his wifes D10 SINK and see how it feels.

Not sure if you've seen these yet, but here are two more to follow up on:

Tarpon 140 - $450

12' 2012 Green Wilderness Kayak - no price or model listed

As far as a kayak being too long, what are you concernced about there? Transportation? Ease of paddling?

ETA: I have duck hunted from SOTs, no problem. I don't think the hunting from a SOT will be any more difficult than a SINK, and gear access while fishing in a SOT is far superior.

I was worried about the length for hunting, small creeks, timber, etc. I am in very close quarters, but I guess in reality, a couple of feet wont matter. Also transportation, weight, etc., but that stuff comes with the territory.

Really digging the 10 footer for the weight, ease of transport, being able to haul it a short trip through the woods to my duck hole easily. BUT if it fails to perform after that, seems like it wouldnt be worth getting there.

I wouldn't want anything shorter than around 12' or longer than 14'. Short boats are easy to maneuver but on long paddles have no tracking and are a PITA. I understand the tight quarters thinking, but I have fished and hunted plenty of very small water in NWLA with no problem in 14' yaks. Weight definitely can be a factor if you don't have direct water access, but that may not be an issue with you. If you're dragging a yak 20' to launch, an extra 20lbs won't matter. If it's 200 yards though, you'll notice it for sure.

Salmon has a Native Ultimate 12', and a Pelican Castaway 116

I have a Malibu Explorer FishNDive (which is in Houston currently, but I'm working on that)

We have a buddy who has a 14' Native Ultimate and a 14' Jackson Cuda that I could probably arrange a test paddle for if you're interested, but those are both $1100+ kayaks.

I've got a 14 foot perception Carolina with rudder. Very manuverable and tracks well. You can try it out too.

An OBer has it somewhere this week. They were doing a spring break trip.

Coco, I wouldnt want to waste their time ....Salmon, that pelican is not looking bad at all. I am reading quite a few good reviews online, but also a lot of leak stories.
