I'd be mostly using it for louisiana (local) waterways....paddling thru swamps, small bayous, northshore area, fishing a lil, playin a lil, Not really gonna take it out in the open much (maybe into the edge of ponch here and there), maybe small rivers like the one near hattiesburg, but not in any white water (rapids) etc.......What would be a good kayak for me.....Im ok with used to offset costs..

TIA

Native Ultimate 12' or Jackson Cuda 12' - both extremely stable platforms, and both can handle anything you described.

If you plan on being in rivers at all, don't get one of the ones specifically designed for marsh fishing (KC Kayak, Diablo, etc...), get one that is multi-dimensional like the two I described above. I have fished out of many different kayaks, and if I bought a new one tomorrow it would come down to those two.

Really not gonna save money going the used route......four to consider:

1. Heritage angler 12 @ academy
2. Ascend 12 @ BPS
3. Perception pescador 12 @ academy
4. West marine pompano 120 @ west marine

All four excellent starter yaks that will suit your needs.

I remember seeing somewhere that there is a demo day put on by masseys coming up in Nola. I would maybe check out their website.

How hard is it to stand up and piss in that thing?

I've posted this before but I will try to say it like I did

The first time I took mine (it's a 10 footer not like the one above) out I decided to stand up and piss.

It took even ounce of athleticism, coordination, determination, dedication, focus, and balance I had to finish my piss off.

I was wobbling like a mother fricker.

I found that carrying a rather large cup and pissing out the pant leg of my shorts is a much better option after that

ETA: a solid 4-5 ounces

I've got the same one with that seat which makes all the difference. It's actually pretty easy to stand in while marsh fishing just by paddling over a little marsh grass. Stabilizes it quite well.

This is the only one I'v ever owned so I don't know much about the seats in them. But yes...this thing is comfortable.
