If you have a 2015+ F-150...

Stop.
Go buy a pair of rear Bilstein 5100s.
Throw the factory ones in the trash.
Thank me later.
I cannot express enough how much more enjoyable driving is now. All that loose caboose crap is GONE.

I am about to do the same to my Z71

I swapped my stock shocks out with bilsteins on my 17 250. It made a big difference but changing out the steering stabilizer made a bigger difference with the front end wobble . Pleased with the ride and handling .

I had a 2016 F150 that I replaced the rear shocks with Icon 2.0's. I would not wait to do it again. I would do it immediately it made that much difference.
I had a new Icon and the old stock shock side by side. I could push the stock shock in one handed and it took about 7 or 8 seconds to fully rebound.
The new Icon took most of my weight to compress and rebounded in about 1 or 2 seconds.

I have had front and rear 5100s on my last 3 trucks. 5100s and different tires are pretty much the first and only things I do to the truck after buying it. Can’t see myself ever buying anything else.

After reading too many posts on this topic to count, the biggest take away is that the stock ones are garbage and almost anything is better.
Im now debating on how much of a difference the front will make. I have a 2" level in the front and all the problems seem to have originated in the back, which are now gone.
So, is it worth the expense?

It kind of depends. I think just swapping to 5100s in the front will be an improvement for sure. If going to entirely new coilovers like Bilstein 6112s, Fox, King, Icon, Radflo etc will be superior performance offroad. Unmatched. However for most people (pawpaws) they want that smooth floaty street ride. It will feel too "sporty" to a lot of people because it is designed for big stuff, not cracks in the pavement.
So I guess it is up to each person. I do believe any bilstein 5100, Eibach, Fox 2.0 or any other front strut is worlds better than OEM junk.

Would both rears and fronts make a noticeable difference over just the rears like you're recommending? Feel like if we dip our toes in, might as well go all the way if it's worth it
