I have raised several fawns over the years and have all the stuff they need ready to go. If anyone knows of anyone that has one if I can get to you I'll come help. I'm in a lifted duramax. Deer have been my last concern as we've all been helping get people out their houses and getting supplies to people, but things have slowed down some for me so now I have time to worry about the fawn crop.

I could take one as well. I've raised a few myself.

man, that's an awesome project i'd love to get involved in but i'm still super busy with my community service network projects of Rebuilding single mothers in manufactured housing communities and Stray Cats matter projects. Lots of running and gunning in my non lifted silver F 250.

I'm still shuttling people back and fourth also. Usually once they're old enough to live on their own I get with wildlife and fisheries or if its a doe I've turned them lose on our family land and they usually hang around and sometimes come back with their fawns.

LDWF had a press release about this today( LDWF Press Release)

quote:

Rehabilitators are not permitted to take deer or fawns without prior LDWF approval. All calls regarding deer or fawns must be handled through the appropriate LDWF regional office. Go to https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wildlife-field-offices-and-telephone-numbers for a listing of those offices or contact LDWF Deer Program Manager Johnathan Bordelon at jbordelon@wlf.la.gov or 225-765-2344. Bordelon said the public should not pick up fawns during this disaster. There is a good chance the doe is nearby but reluctant to come out in view of the public. Deer will attempt to return to their normal home ranges in advance of the water receding in some cases.

I always contact the LDWF when I get one, especially with all the crisis going on right now they're pretty cool about it.

I caught one but had to send it off with someone else because I was getting people out of the water. Hope he didn't just drop it off somewhere else

Green jeans swat team will be surrounding your house soon as they read this. Not saying I wouldn't do it myself but I wouldn't post it for all to see. What ur doing is the right thing but not legal. Just watch how you go about it. Definitely no fb pics with the fawn that just asking for trouble.

Why do you think it's the right thing if waters drop within 24hrs?

NWF Disagrees

Another one

Find one that says it is ok if the mother isn't obviously dead or the fawn is wounded

I will admit it does make a great photo op and provide a bunch of likes on FB if you are in to that sort of thing.

Buy a lifted Duramax and start "fawnnapping" baby deer. I am sure you will get a lot of appreciation on Facebook.
