This would be a lot cooler if I could go out and shoot stuff

I would advocate for moving the hunting season. Maybe start bow season mid way through October or November 1st and run it through mid February or to the end of February. Thoughts?

Sure is, but too damn cold for me to go out there at 2am when they've been on my camera

I'm keeping em baited, and hoping now that hunting season pressure is gone, they'll come back out during the daylight. Shooting that big boar few weeks ago actually got me pumped up to hunt them.

I’m watching mallards and pintails bomb in my slough and I’ve never seen either back there. Big fat doves are sailing around everywhere. Only thing I’m not seeing is rabbit and squirrels, and that’s all that open. They must have read the pamphlet

I drove over the spillway at shooting time and then back over it at 7ish and didnt see a single duck in any of those ponds. Was kinda shocked

Duck season should run Dec-Feb with an early real season, it's a joke as is, especially in North zone

They always get the pamphlet before any hunters. We need to make some fake pamphlets.

Instead of critters I think I’m just going to shoot all these River Birch trees and put them out of their misery. Worst trees ever

I don’t know how a squirrel would climb on these tree popsicles we have around here. I would love to see one attempt it.

Some parts of the state do. Bow season just ended on the 15th in Areas 5, 6, and 9.

Birds look better in Feb too. Guess having duck season open that late may mess up breeding and negatively affect pop.

Should be shoveler/ spoonbill/ season over here right now. Most I’ve ever seen.
Funny how they congregate into big tight rafts and just move around in circles. Warming up I guess

Can't keep sunflower seeds in feeders because of fat squirrels . I now throw bird seed on ground and let the squirrels have the feeders .

That is the reasoning behind it. I have more geese and ducks then I have had since 2017 season when everything froze for a week. I am watching them right now working around 90 acres of corn. The holes are still frozen, but they are landing on the ice and dry fields. Teal, mallards, gadwalls, pintails, shovelers specks and snows. Have ringnecks and a couple buffleheads that are staying in parts of the lake that aren’t frozen over.

Sun is going to be out Saturday, and I am hoping to get some nice video of the ducks and geese.
