You shoot a duck/dove and can’t find it

Do you count that towards your limit or keep on shooting?

Supposed to count it

I don't duck/dove hunt often but it would be the right thing to do. If I shoot a squirrel and it hangs up in the tree I count it.

Wanton Waste Laws

So if you make a bad shot but never recover the deer, technically you don't have to notch your tag. If you recover it and it's torn up, you'd legally have to tag it

Some states may issue you a salvage tag

Never seen a deer head strapped to a 4 wheeler like that.

I rarely kill anything with horns tho.

It's called a bag limit for a reason.

I think you are right. Wanton waste pertains to migratory birds
