Hydraulic Jackplates

Thinking about replacing my manual with a hydraulic. Any thoughts? I may go used if I can find a deal out there. Anyone know of a 10-12" being sold? I would like one with the pump in the plate as opposed to in the boat. Thanks.

There was a thread here not too long ago. Atlas and Bob's are both good brands. Would absolutely recommend replacing the manual with a hydraulic. Very useful and will help you get the most of your boat/motor combination.
I would recommend buying a new one. While the jack plates themselves are durable, the components can wear. The wiring harnesses are pretty much just bad across the board and will take some maintenance/replacement over years of use in saltwater.

Thanks. This will be for a freshwater boat.

If you don't have a water pressure gauge on your boat I would get one installed when you install the hydro jackplate.

Probably owned 6 or 7 boats with Bob's on them and the only issue I've ever had are with the led gauges they sell for them which are crap. The plates, pumps, and wiring are all rock solid. Have a couple buddies who have picked up sponsorships from Atlas and ran them for the first time this year and haven't had the first issue yet, they are little faster than the Bob's I believe. Don't think you could go wrong with either, If your wanting a color matching application Bob's offers powder coated finishes in several colors.

I know you said you don’t want the pump in the boat, I have a Bob’s Machine Jack Plate, the pump is in the boat and it’s small and compact. Your either going to run wire to the plate or a hydraulic hose. I’d prefer to have the pump and electronics inside where they are protected and it’s easier to service.

Atlas is faster than the bobs and maintenance free
Both are good though

I am just fighting as to whether the benefits are worth the money over my manual. I found a certificate for any size atlas for $1000. That seems like a pretty good deal.

I've had both manual and hydro. Bobs hydro was faster than atlas but not big deal. No issues with either.
I'd buy new just for the peace of mind that you have a warranty
Hydro over manual all day. Good feature to have

I have a 12” manual slide master. Just toying with the idea of replacing it. The hyd. would make travel on Toledo a bit easier I would think.

Get a new one and wait till black friday. I know hydrillagear.com runs a 15% off. You can get new for the price of used. Thats when and where I bought my power poles.
