Goose hunting this morning in SWLA and Green Jeans saw my truck parked at in our parking area and decided to pay me a visit. I watched him watch me through his binos before he walked all the way to my blind. Hard to believe that ive been hunting for 15 or so years and this is my first time getting checked. Anybody get checked often on private land or has anyone also ever experienced the agent walking/drive up to your blind mid hunt?

I’m 33 yrs old, been hunting all my life. I got checked for the first time last year. Green jeans parked on our main road and waited for us to come out of the woods. Obviously we had all our shite together so it went pretty smooth.

This past summer I got checked 3 times in one day fishing in Barataria Bay by the same 2 agents. They would look for birds diving and setup around them and check the boats that showed up.

After the third time, he apologized and grinned, I told him I was going into the duck ponds for redfish if he wanted to check me there once I start catching fish.

Yep, most are nice. Some are pricks like the following:

I've had a pair in an airboat drive straight through the marsh on a bee line for us. When they get into our pond they proceed to ride around in a couple circles on top of our decoys (running them over) to see if it stirred up any bait. They had not said a word to us yet. When they pulled up to us I said "Couldn't you have idled in and used a pushpole to look for bait instead of potentially ruining a bunch of my fricking decoys that I spend hard earned money on?"

Then they sat there for 30 min questioning/searching everything only to come up empty handed. No tickets, because we weren't breaking the law. You could tell they were pissed.

I've only been checked once fishing, and the ice chest was completely empty. The agent (lady) was cool and let me take a picture of her looking in the chest and signalling "zero."

I hunt private land and we’re way off the main road. Pawpaw kinda knows the local green jeans and tells them he don’t let no funny business go down so we don’t get messed with. Get checked quite often when we hunt the wax though, I’ve had ol baws pull up to the blind or waiting at the boat.

One time I was complimenting the blind across the way’s dog, how fast and strong it was running across the flat and also saying how shitty of a shot they were. Sounded like WW3. After they picked up their decoys they made a b-line straight for us and checked us must’ve heard me talking shite.

I've only been checked after fishing.

We had 1 young green jeans fella pull up at the farm shop after duck hunting and act a little frisky. My FIL called his dad, and he fricked off real quick.

I've only been checked 2-3 times hunting...and each time it was by green jeans waiting on the road exiting a WMA. Been checked 3-4 times fishing. Never had any trouble and always thought the agents were easy to deal with (although a buddy might disagree because he got a ticket for no WMA permit one of the times we got stopped). Never been checked on private land or had them walk up on me in the woods/stand/blind.

I'm 46 and have only been checked twice.

once flyfishing in AR on the Norfork. Dude was an arse.

2nd time I was on my in-laws dock on the Tennessee river fishing with my daughter. She was around 4 or 5.
It was 4th of July weekend and boats were acting like idiots out there, yet, my daughter and I are sitting on a dock catching bream and they checked me.

I didn't have my wallet so I had to go up to the house and get while they waited.

I'm sure they thought I was out there and didn't know what I was doing and didn't have a license.

They were nice about it but it was just stupid considering the time.

Twice:
Once while night fishing the jetties in Cameron and headed back to Hebert's marina....dark as hell and all of a sudden it lit up like daytime with their Qbeams on the deck. We had no fish...so it was no issue.

2nd time...we were driving up...and there was some guys at the boat launch..one was on the phone. As soon as we got there...GJ showed up right after the guy on the phone left. Only thing GJ got me for was my unsigned duckstamp...I signed it right in front of him. No ticket.

I've never been checked hunting. Shocking because we have about 16 boats at our landing which is right off the highway on the way to some other hunting areas. You'd think they would park there and check people as they come in but, as far as I know, they've avoid it. Maybe someone with a lease in our area has some pull with LDWF...

I've been checked twice in the last 2 years hunting and fishing around laffy and once in 15 years before that.

2 weeks ago one of the two was at sherburne. I think the wardens name was Allen. He was at the launch when I got back with my dad. Really nice guy. Checked our licenses and gave a bunch of good info.

The other was at the launch at the whiskey bay exit. Checked my license and boat registration and told me to be careful because if he was a dick head he could get me for my trailer not being registered.

The time before that was in Mississippi and the dude was a total prick. Went through all my shite.

Never on private land. On WMAs, only when using a busy access road.

I’m 38 yrs old and probably been checked 15 times. One time I received a Green Jeans award. All other times all I got was checked/harassed. I’ve been checked by the same guy 8 times. He’s an arse.

On public land... A few times a year. I go above and beyond trying to be legal. I’ve run into to so many a-hole game wardens it’s unreal. I know the first thought is what am I doing to get treated like this. Honestly, I go above and beyond to be respectful and show that I’m legal as quick as possible.

Here’s a post of mine from last year LINK. I’m sure most game wardens are good guys, but man I’ve run into some assholes.

That signing shite gotta be one of the dumbest rules bruh. Got stopped last week on the way back to the camp at the Wax. Didn't have HIP cert.. didnt give me a ticket. Wouldve been pissed if i got cited for something that literally costs zero dollars. Went got it online right after tho just so i dont have to deal with the GJ again.
