After two months of drought in SE Alabama, we finally got the necessary rain to plant. One week after planting, my rye grass is coming in nicely. I haven’t checked on my clover just yet though. I plan to do that this weekend.

Update: I’d post pics but can’t seem to figure out how to. So, the plots are looking good. The rain has helped tremendously. I hit the plots with triple 13 about 3 weeks after planting and it gave them a nice boost. The rye is thick, but my red clover is struggling a bit. Overall, pretty pleased with what I’m seeing. I’ve yet to hunt due to my job but I’ve been keeping an eye on the plots and the deer traffic is unreal. Pretty excited for this season.

Clover and Austrian winter peas are looking good. Also have a few tillage radishes popping out of the ground.

Damn, when did you plant?

I will know more come this weekend but they are looking more spotty than I would like. No sure if it was due to not enough seed used or just the thrower wasn't throwing even. Also looks like they are getting hammered hard by the deer which is keeping them short.

Where in SE Alabama?

We planted early September. Obviously, that was a waste. Went and just threw seed over the plots right before these rains the last few weeks. Didn't retill. Hopefully, when I get back up there for my first trip they've got enough to bring some deer in.

Plots in two different locations near Port Gibson look outstanding. Finished planting two weeks ago we for once nailed the timing. Everything popping up green.

I planted 2 small plots of rye and turnips. The turnip plants are still very small, but the rye came up well.

I killed a nice doe grazing in one of the plots last weekend.

Planted 10/11, most are doing great, however one was planted on the side of a creek (1.25 acres) and last weekends rains overflowed the creek and i had a foot of standing water in the plot for 24 hours, by sunday the water was gone and the grass was laid over and a little pale but I think some sunshine will fix most of that, did have some wash out areas in that plot that I will reseed this weekend

I planted about 3 weeks ago right before a good rain. I've never really had good results before, but this is the 1st time I've waited until October to plant. Lincoln Parish, La.

I planted wheat/peas/rape blend October 19th on a bow plot I have behind my house right before the good rains hit. Then I top seeded with clover this past weekend. I plant to walk back there this evening and check it out.

My turnips are doing well in fields, those in the woods are coming up great but still quite a bit smaller. Really need a frost, my favorite stand is now sitting on 160 acres of 3 inch tall rice. Kind of hard to bow hunt an area that big.

Oh man, I recognize that stand. Paid a guide off craigslist $100 who set me up in that exact box stand where I killed a big spike and a small doe in September

Around the Enterprise area. It worked out perfect for me. It rained early in the week while I was gone for work. Got home, went to work with the disc on that Thursday, planted the seeds on Friday, and it rained later that night.

Planted at beginning of October. Against my good judgement, I mixed some free soybeans in the mix. Never again. Pigs hit it pretty good but most of both my plots are still coming up. I will see this weekend.

Planted 10 acres this past weekend with a mixture of oats and winter peas. Wheat is hard to get your hands on right now for us. My clover plots should start coming up.

I went and put 33-0-0 out this afternoon ahead of the rain. Mine are looking good but about to jump.
