Hose on propane heater has a slight leak - will it blow me up?
Posted by LSUvegasbombed on 12/26/18 at 2:11 pm00
So I bought a Remington Propane tank top heater a couple weeks ago... I have been using it while drinking some beers on the deck when its cold as shite.
Its been working awesome... however, the hose running from regulator to heater slightly leaks after 3 weeks.
I am using on a open deck and was wondering if this is going to blow my arse up. I stopped using it for now.
I included a pic of where it leaks.

You're not going to blow up. I'm sure the vapor is regulated to 10-20 psig or so. Replace the hose or unscrew fitting and add teflon tape

This will work unless leak is where tubing meets the brass fitting, then its time for a new hose.

More like 10-20” of water.
If it’s leaking from the threads, unscrew and add Teflon tape. If it’s from the crimp, you need a new one but the leak will not blow you up.

i believe this is the case
This hose is not long and the constant 90 degree bending probably caused this while taking off to get tank filled

Replace the hose with a woven stainless steel one. They stay way more flexible than the reinforced rubber hoses is my experience.

Leak check. Spray some soapy water on it. If it bubbles on fitting, try putting teflon tape on threads. If it's in the braid, replace hose. Gas is money.

If leaking at the crimp replace it with a longer braided hose

Actually have had the same problem the last few times I’ve boiled crawfish. I just mushed some foil around it.
