Guys, have a gun safe for my regulars, but I’ve always kept a pistol (G19) in my dresser loaded for home defense. We have a soon to be walking child in the home.

What do you recommend to be able to lock the gun safely but have it easily accessible should I need it.

Will a soon to be walking child be able to reach top dresser drawer?

Immediately no, within a year or so, probably. That is it’s current location.

Well actually that’s a good idea, it’s in my nightstand not dresser.

Speed vault. Mount on wall behind headboard. 3,4,5, or 6 digit code and opens in an instant.

This is what you seek -- no batteries to worry about, no keys to find at 2:00 a.m.

I have a biometric safe bolted to by bedframe under the bed skirt.

On both sides of the bed.

No one knows it's there. Finger swipe opens it.

Have had then for 6 years probably.

They are slim but hold a full size .45 XD

My son was walking at 9 months and climbing at 1yr.

Doesn’t take long.

Great advice everyone. Have moved the gun to the top of the dresser (temporary) and will be buying a speedvault!

Cheers to fellow safe gun owners!

Keep fresh batteries in it - or keep that tiny backup key handy. Otherwise you and your son will both be locked out.

Move to top shelf of closet. When that’s not viable get one of those single gun lock boxes.
