Hog hunting NWR?

I know Big Brach is full of hogs but when I read the regs for out there it only mentions one thing about hogs in the "archery deer" section
So the only time I can kill a hog out there is during deer season? Seems odd but can't get in touch with any green jeans to confirm

Correct. On most public land, you can only kill hogs during other active hunting seasons. NWRs are notoriously strict with their regs. The primary purpose of the NWR is not to provide hunting opportunities so it is given lower importance vs other activities particularly during non hunting seasons.

I think on many WMAs you could hog hunt during the upcoming squirrel season. Could be wrong though.
ETA: Quote from regs for WMAs:
So back to spring squirrel season, so long as your WMA has an open spring squirrel season, you can shoot hogs with anything legal to hunt squirrels with. Same with turkey season fwiw.
ETA: Quote from regs for WMAs:
quote:
OUTLAW QUADRUPEDS (COYOTES, ARMADILLOS & FERAL HOGS) AND BIRDS
Outlaw quadrupeds and birds may be taken during any legal hunting season on WMAs by properly licensed and/or permitted hunters bearing a license and gear legal for specified seasons in progress. See page 43 for seasons and regulations pertaining to crows, blackbirds, grackles and cowbirds.

Just go in with a bow during the summer when nobody is on the WMA’s. If you are a crazy enough mofo to brave the heat, ticks, horse flies, poison ivy, snakes, etc just to kill a pig, there is not another man or law in the world that should scare you.
