Does anyone on this board enjoy and have you fished from other pedal drive kayaks?

Went with a friend recently and enjoyed it. Caught a bunch of fish in places my center console wouldn't get into.

I have a Hobie PA14.

It's a very nice platform to fish off of, but very heavy. I haven't used any other pedal drives.

Mine is for sale if you're interested, it's loaded.

I have an Outback which is lighter than the PA. No reverse on mine. It's also lighter and faster. I'm happy with it.

I also don't believe my next kayak has been invented yet. I want a combination Jackson Flex Drive/Pro Angler/Nucanoe. Lol

There's a good bit of kayakers on here, welcome to the addiction. Pedals are the way to go if your willing to pay the premium, less time holding a paddle and more time holding a fishing rod!

Thanks for yours and all the responses. I'm looking at PA 14.
Probably wonder about live well options next.

Had a PA12 for the past three years...and have owned several other paddle kayaks. I will never go back. It is night and day with the amount of comfort and ground you can cover vs. paddling.

PA14

How stable is it? Is there anything you don't like about it?

Probably going to invest in a fishing kayak after hunting season is over and the PA14 is at the top of my list right now. But I've never had a chance to test one out...probably going to have to catch a demo day at Massey's

It's very stable. I'm a big baw sittin at 3 bills and a lil over 6' so I needed something with some girth to it and it definitely has done its job so far. 38" wide so you won't get a whole lot more stable than a PA.

I'd love to fish with someone in that PA17t.. that thing looks like some fun and is 43" wide. I'd imagine you can haul some arse with 2 mirage drives.

Nice. Stability is probably my biggest concern with buying a kayak because only paddle craft I've ever fished out of was a 2 person canoe...and didn't care for it because it didn't feel stable at all. Any little movement by my fishing buddy made the boat rock and feel like we were going to flip over. Definitely want to go to a demo day or rent one to test out before dropping that kind of cash, but feel better about it if you're saying its stable even for a bigger baw.

I assume you're comfortable with leg room from seat to pedals? I'd like a kayak, not sure I'll fit at 6'7. Obviously I need to sit in one, just not serious enough to go to a store.

Wont have that problem with these. I lean and turn all over reaching for shite and it never comes close to turning over. Which is good because I don't wanna have to flip that big bitch over in marsh mud.

i have lots of leg room. I still have 3 notches to move my pedals further out.. I have a buddy who's 6'6 300# and he's getting one this weekend. The laffy yak crew growing

I've taken it offshore quite a bit in Florida. Other than the break, I've never felt the slightest bit uncomfortable and I've taken it in some pretty significant seas...for a kayak anyway.

As far as livewell, the Hobie live well seems pretty nice, but it's almost oversized and takes up most of your rear deck.

Offshore, I use pvc bait tube station and they work great. AYC uses one for minnows in the marsh. Takes up no room and doesn't create any drag. For shrimp I use an Engel 13qt bait cooler with aerator. It doesn't have a giant footprint and keeps bait very well. The frabil bait station is a nice option too, it's small enough to keep in front of you while you pedal. (Engel has to go in the back).
