Would this be a good scope? Deer hunting 60-250 yards.
I’m not sure if I’m missing something because everywhere else I’m looking it’s $490

This is the one I think is the better deal I’m I wrong?

Tikka t3 270. I’m a little hesitant on pulling the trigger and buying it because it’s $150 cheaper than I can find anywhere else and would hate to have just overlooked a feature.

Great scope. I heard midway was having a big sale on leupold. Your second link has little higher magnification.

I would stick with leupold. Great glass, great company.

Another stupid question, what would be good rings? Should I just go with Leupold rings also?

For an extra $150, you can buy a Leica 2-10X50 ER5 from Eurooptic. Better optics and it is on sale from $1k. So you are spending $500 for a $1000 scope. That is what I am buying in the next couple of days to go on top of my new .308.

If carson recommends it, snap it up...he is a resident expert and has given some fine advice here through the years...

$348 is a pretty good deal on a VX III.

Also, just my opinion here, don't feel like you absolutely have to have a 50mm scope.
40mm can be mounted lower to the rifle where your check has a better fit to the stock.

I have the vx3 3.5-10x40 and that thing is sweet as all hell. Can't go wrong with the leupold.

Seems like the bare minimum scope people buy nowadays is a 3-9x40. I know some folks who won't buy anything with an objective smaller than 50mm. Personally for a woods gun hunting medium to large game around here I love a good 32-36mm scope like this. Smaller. Lighter. Cleaner lines with the rifle. Lower scope over bore height. I'll make the bold claim that more people have lost game due to over magnification than under magnification in our Alabama woods.

Yea I have a 2-7 on my .30-30 and about the only time it ever gets shot not on 2 power is at paper.

I hate a big telescope on top of my otherwise nice light compact rifle.
