I dumped out all gas and put brand new mix in.
I changed spark plug.
I sprayed start fluid in the carb.

IMO sounds like it's not getting the fuel but I really don't know.

I'm not having it repaired somewhere for $100 when a new one is $199.

Air filter looks fine, clean, I took the fuel line out the tank and the line and filter both appeared ok.

Not being a smart arse here, but do you have the switch turned to the "on" position?

Had the same problem with my echo, took it to shop they put a new carb kit, still no luck, them they made some adjustments, and finally started working for a week or two, then the starting rope broke, I bought a new huskvarna , and the bitch starts soo easy. I will sell you my echo for pretty cheap, but for your sanity , go buy a husky

Yes switch is on.

How can I tell if it's firing?

The bowl in the carb needs to be cleaned out.

Pull out your fuel.lines.from tank. Then squeeze all the crap out of them. Just had to do that to mine not long ago. Need to replace em

I'm no expert .... Find your carb. There is a 'bowl' on it that fills up with fuel. There is a float/switch that activates when the bowl fills (kind of like a toilet). Remove the nut on the bottom of this bowl and let it drain. The old sheet will look thick and syrupy like varnish. Let this sheet all run out until the fuel runs free and clearly (assuming you drained the old fuel and added new). Put the bowl back on.... Clean up a little... And I bet that sumbitch fires on the first pull.

Small engines are pretty simple, fuel, air, fire. If you have those three and it still won't start, then its probably a goner unless you want to dump a lot of money into a rebuild. Clean the carb, change the fuel lines, check the primer bulb for cracks, change the plug, clean the air filter.

I've had problem with a brand new Ecco. The fuel I used had trash in it and it clogged the fuel line.

I've had to change out fuel filter before ad I've changed the fuel lines. You can get lines and filter and all from home depot. That and pull carb and soak in cleaner then put back on.
