Watched my Tigers win in Tiger stadium yesterday and now flying out to Kansas. Hope I'm smiling with a big buck on the ground the way I was last night.
Fellas, like we used to say at those hot arse softball tourneys back in the day....they ain't doing this in Russia.

Where at in Kansas are you heading? I am from Wichita. There are some big bucks roaming around right now. I saw a 14 pt buck scouting for ducks the other night. Best of luck on your hunt and enjoy your visit.

Hopefully it will cool down a little for your hunt.

1st hunt this evening, saw 9.
2 racks. One was about a 15" 8pt broadside at 25 yards.
I've never killed one with a bow. Finally got a new PSE a month ago.
Hunting just North of Atchison. Cool, not cold. The other 4 saw them EVERYWHERE this am. Hope it's the same tmrw.

I have some buddies that are heading up to Kansas on Wednesday. I have to stay in Jackson for school. Jealous...

Can't wait for pheasant to open Saturday. Could have some snow on the ground in western Kansas--around Goodland. Seen tons of birds this summer/fall.

EBRSO detective dies in hunting accident By Trey Schmaltz

BATON ROUGE - An East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's deputy died after falling from a tree stand in Kansas over the weekend, according to a department spokesperson.
Detective Sgt. Brent Travis was part of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Investigations unit. He had been with the sheriff's office since March 2001.
Details about the fatal hunting accident come on the same day as a hunting safety reminder from the West Feleciana Fire Department, which had to rescue a man who also fell from a tree stand Friday.
"This made the third such call in the last thirty days," said Fire Chief James Wood.
Two patients were flown to hospitals with-in Baton Rouge.
"Hunters had to crawl with broken extremities and injuries to reach an area they could call for help via cell phone. One hunter was left in the woods overnight until a relative located him."
It took responders longer than usual to respond to the calls for help, because of the rural locations of hunting areas.
"In previous years the Fire District has responded to numerous serious injuries, paralysis and death due to falling accidents," said Chief Woods. "The Fire District would like to remind hunters to be safe and follow basic hunter safety principles."
TIPS FOR HUNTERS:
- Bring a reliable means of communication
- Let someone know where you will be and when they should expect to hear from you
- Check equipment and stands before use
- Use safety equipment when climbing

re Lots of empty seats at the game - Volt on 10/3 at 2:03 p.m. That's true. I work at North Oaks hospital in Hammond, and it was as if the entire hospital loaded up in that bus.

When you get bored/hungry, drive over to St. Joe and eat at Boudreaux's. Best boudin outside of St. Landry Parish.
Pheasant better be ready tomorrow!

Just got word that my buddy killed a 145 inch 10 point. Not what he was wanting, but not too bad. I will try and get a picture up tomorrow...
