Can anyone recommend a Gun Shop or Pawn Shop that has a decent inventory of used firearms? I'm wanting to buy some older Smith Revolvers, maybe a Makarov, 1911, Browning Hi Power, etc... Thx.

I understand this is not a local shop. I have done business with Chris on a few occasions. He typically has a good collection of collector pieces that he finds on a regular basis. Their website doesn't show inventory however I would encourage you to give them a call and have a conversation about what you're interested in. He has a small shop with a lot of really nice & unique equipment.

Visit Pawn shops, don't just take them at face value for what you see on the shelf. Engage someone that knows whats going on and ask them what they have in the back on older firearms your looking for. I'm yet to find a pawn shop that doesn't have a good secondary selection to look at. They all do.

If you can wait & shop, keep on gunbroker looking for someone close by selling. Found a guy in Lafayette that had what I wanted, dealt w/ him directly.

Gunbroker is the best avenue at the moment however they made changes to how pictures are displayed that really was a negative IMO.

The original Gunsamerica circa 2005 was the GOAT.

If you are looking for a deal you really need to cast a wide net and gunbroker will have the best pricing because competition is stiffest there and there is no middle man who needs to get his cut in between (seller pays the fees). As far as local goes, Cabelas is known for buying a lot of guns from estates. They are also known for swooping in a largely outbidding the highest bidder so expect their pricing to be on the high side. Pawn shops are a good place to look and should be better priced than Cabelas. Gun shows can be good too, but a lot of the collectors selling old guns from their personal collections want top dollar. However, I know a local guy who has a massive collection of guns ranging from the 1850's to WWII and he has picked up a lot of pretty good scores going to the shows. Also, watch any local gun forums that have a classifieds sections and make sure you have the cash ready to go if something pops up.

Love that gun. Lafayette shooters used to have a few used guns. Saw some Belgium A-5s there at one time

Here's a good looking one.

If you really want to put your hands on some guns then you are probably going to need to head to Houston and go to Collectors. Unfortunately we live in a world were there just aren't many great pawn shops left any more. Or gun shops that have knowledgeable people to staff to correctly deal with older firearms. Add to that that there are plenty of people that roam around to every single gun shop, pawn shop, and gunsmith offering cash for anything used. All of these guns end up at the huge shops like Collectors, or right to the auction circuit.

And I'll throw a shout out to Ford's in Baton Rouge. Not a huge selection, but a bunch of GREAT stuff, with a great staff.

Try Ford's firearms in Baton Rouge.
Some very cool older stuff. Saw a browning HP there Friday.
Some newer stuff too.
Prices were what prices are at a local gun store.

It's not local.... but the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine has the most used guns I've ever seen.

Go to their website and you can see what they've got.

They had two or three if memory serves. I want to say that the very nice one was around 900. Which is the right neighborhood for a non milsurp.
That store has allot of civil war era guns and later. Just fun to look around.

I have one that I bought new in 1980 or so. Been in the safe for the past 30 year she or so. Prob a 9 out of 10. Might could be talked out of it. Pm if you want to discuss.

If you want a hp cheap, there are milsurps that can be had for around $500
