I'm not a conceal carry, yet. I do however carry in my vehicle and if a cop ever pulled me over i would notify him that i do indeed have one in the vehicle.
Help me out here though if you are in the know.

Non conceal carry in a vehicle = Don't have to tell a cop shite. Can have the gun stored anywhere in the vehicle, out of sight.

Conceal carry = must notify cop that there's a gun in the vehicle.

Where do you live? I live in Ohio right now and there are some pretty strict laws regarding guns in vehicles here.

You dont have to notify the police officer unless the firearm is on you.

I have always, and will always, step out of the vehicle when pulled over. I have heard different stances from different buddies in different branches of law enforcement on that subject, but me - i step out of the truck w liscense, registration & proof of insurance. It is close by and i can reach them very quickly.

All of my experiences being pulled over went a lot better when I told them right of the bat that I had a gun in my truck rather than when I had waited.

No reason not to tell them right away if you are a God-fearing, hard working, honest American. Which I am.

it's been ages since i've been pulled over. Have not been pulled over since purchasing my pistol but will get out with papers for vehicle in hand and notify the officer of the weapon that i keep mounted between my seat and console.
No reason to tell him but no reason not to as well.

Why would you tell an officer you had a gun unless he asks? I don't get pulled over often, but when I do it's usually tint at a inspection sticker checkpoint. I give the officer my information and he gives me a ticket. Done deal.

it all depends on a persons mindset tbh.

Put yourself in a cops shoes for a second.
You pull someone over for speeding, pull him over and he exits his vehicle with paperwork in hand and greets you at the back of his vehicle. Notifies you that there is a firearm in the vehicle and he's just letting you know for his safety.

You as a cop would be appreciative and you know you would. May even choose to let the driver leave with a warning.

I do not notify the officer. I keep my mouth shut and respond with one word answers. I offer no grounds to be offended or invitation to engage in conversation. No one is searching my vehicle without a warrant.

If the ticket is real, I deserve it. If the ticket is a BS stop, it'll be thrown out in court or fixed.

I keep one between the front seats, a marine shotgun behind the rear seat between it and the speaker box. There are extra mags in the door in plain sight, if asked, one word answers.

I understand what you're saying, but I think you're offering more information than the situation calls for. I have never had an officer ask if there was anything in my vehicle he/she needs to know about. Maybe because I'm cooperative and not shady when it comes to dealing with officers. In the case they ever did ask I would disclose what I have, but it isn't necessary on a normal traffic stop.

When I get pulled over, I tell them my paperwork is in my glove box and I have a loaded gun in there. They ask me to get out and they get it themselves. Never had an issue, even with NOPD.

If I have a long gun I don't worry about it. I don't think any policeman is too worried about me quick drawing him with my duck gun, and it's in plain sight so he already sees it.

that is another way of looking at it.
And to be honest i don't think either way would invite any sort of uninvited trouble. Just a state of mind i have i suppose.

Yep. They ask first and I let them. I'm not dropping my glove box open and reaching over a loaded gun that he doesn't know is there to get my insurance and registration out. i keep it in an envelope that says insurance and registration on it.

Yall are some paranoid militant mother frickers.

I have had cops draw down on me twice for getting out. I have gotten pulled over a lot, so now I just sit back and wait for them to come to me.

Moral of the story is don't get out unless they tell you to.

I tell them if I have my gun on me (obviously) or if it is visible in my truck. 99% of the cops I have told, couldn't care less

Why do you keep a pistol in the glove box? That seems like the worst place to keep a weapon for protection.

Tip #1: Hands 10 & 2, Dome light on

Tip #2: Advise the Officer that you're a concealed carry permit holder

Tip #3: Display Identification - driver's license and carry permit

Not trying to make a joke or be an a-hole, but are you a convicted felon?

How can you legally own a gun, much less get a ccw?

I think telling the cop you have a gun depends on the situation. The one time I told a trooper I had a gun on a traffic stop he said "why would I care unless you are planning to pull it" He just wanted to write a ticket and move on...
