Bout tired of this cold arse weather, Friday looks like a decent day to try to go after some green trout. Haven't been in a while but hopefully the water temps are warm enough to find some big girls in dead end canals.

Anyone else going wet a line this weekend?

Went this past sunday and couldn't buy a bite. Water was 44 degrees and post front. I'm gonna give it a couple more weeks but I'm ready to get out there.

Same here. Two weeks ago everywhere I went, water was mid 40s. No luck.

Won't be long until I'm heading to Lacassine. I been wanting to try it. Either after the 15th or if I put a deer on the ground before then, I'll be heading there.

Last 2 trips to Pigeon was a struggle. Was on about 15lbs before the first snow event. Have a tourney next weekend and am on no fish.

Boat is at David Wade Marine getting its annual checkup so I may have one more chance to find them.

These fish are going to get beat up bad with the low water in the basin. Please think about conservation if you stick a big girl with a fat belly. They are moving up with no where to hide.

Is the water muddy in that end too? Like chocolate milk in Henderson.

I caught half a limit outta the yak last weekend (after the big freeze) on gold spoons. I'll give them a try this week too.

ETA: I was fishing for reds with that spoon. Lately I've been catching more Green Trout than reds near Chef Pass. What should I use if I were targeting the Marsh Bass. I've never gone after them on purpose.

what do you get done? I just changed my spark plugs and lower unit oil as part of my annual. Wondering if there's anything else I should be doing.

I caught 2 this past Sunday in Des Allemands while trying to put the wife and kids on some sac-a-lait. One and a half pounder and then a 3lber hit me at the boat and basically jumped in.

Fishing a tourney out of Bayou Black this Saturday.....gonna pour all day long, so i'm sure it'll be a grind

Bass are saving many trips in that area right now. My last trip there had a 2 man limit all caught on redfish magic spinner bait. Had a lemon head matrix shad plastic on it. Texas rigged brush hog or worm works well too.

Are you talking about the lacassine wildlife refuge ‘pool’? It used to be closed until March/April. Have they changed that?

My freaking outboard is seized up

I've been trying to break it loose but it looks like I will be buying a new one.

can't go wrong with a white and chartreuse spinnerbait right now. Texas rig a craw bait and you should boat a few. Lipless crankbait, etc.

We fished Bayou Bienveniue a couple weeks ago and I caught them on a jig fishing really slow.

I'll look to shoot some ducks in the morning, being last weekend, then break the rods out depending on the rain...
last weekend water was in the mid 40's and warmed up to the upper 40's in spots in north basin area...
caught 2 punching black/blue jigs into heavy cover and grass mats...
bellies looked full...
ready for a warm up but looks like it's gonna stay cool for a few more weeks...

Yeah I was talking about the pool. I haven't researched it much and I've never been but I was told it opens after duck season. Duck season ended there last weekend so I figured it was open. I'll have to check on that.

I needed new seals in my lower unit, replaced my rigging tube (it was tearing), check transom bolts, check steering components. This is what I know for sure because I asked for these to be done. Normally I have nothing wrong and they just go through it.

Last month I replaced the axel and had vault hubs installed. I would add checking the hubs to your list as well.

What tourney you fishing? I will be fishing the Tucker tournament next weekend.

I passed on media teams to fish the bud light trail only to find out it was cancelled for this year. Good luck this weekend.
