Hey fellas, was wondering if any of y’all are on the coast today? I imagine the water is still filthy. Was thinking about heading down to the camp in Grand Isle this afternoon.

I did really well this past Monday and Tuesday on 4” Usual Suspects. I found some cleaner water but did a lot of boat riding to find it. If you can find some pockets of cleaner water, the specks will be there. They are there now but your best bet will be live shrimp under a popping cork.

If anyone sees this thread and is down there, is the water still chocolate milk?

TIA

ETA: over the last few weeks I’ve caught my nicer specks on a Mirrordine 17MRBG-909PBG Suspending jerk bait (Black back/ pink belly). This color is hot right now. A couple on black/ chartreuse but the black and pink is where it’s at right now if you’re fishing artificial.

EOSDIS WORLDVIEW - NASA SAT WATER QUALITY DAILY PICS

Take a look for yourself. Water quality depends on where you will be fishing.

Yea, looks like it may work out well depending on if the wind shifts again. It’s nice being able to look at it on satellite but saltwater fishermen know how quick conditions change.

Was just hoping someone down there now would see this and be able to give an update. When I say the water has been chocolate milk, I mean it. Usually around this time every year it begins to get a whole lot cleaner but all the rivers are still pretty swollen and we dropped a good bit of rain the last few weekends.

I usually can call and check in with one of our camp neighbors but no one has made it down there yet. I’m going to go ahead and drive down there now.

I’ll try to update this thread this evening after I get a chance check it out and I’ll post tomorrow after AM trip

We caught our 2 man limit today fishing behind the island. Set the anchor, Vudu, couple hours later we pulled up the anchor and headed back to the camp! My buddy caught 3 man limit, said they left Sand Dollar and went east about 10 miles and were done by 9am.

Wind is picking up though, but we'll be back at it tomorrow am again.

Wind sucks but my brother and I finished our limit. Most on Usual Suspects, few on a mirrordine and finished limiting out with live shrimp.
