Lot of military history on my mother's side of the family and have finally gotten around to digging into it again. It'll take years to sort though the documents and letters but a few interesting items of note.

Original signed photograph to my great-grandfather from Joe Lewis.

1st Edition set, personally dedicated to my great-great-grandfather by Pershing himself.

Also have a commissioning document signed by Theodore Roosevelt, a letter from General Patton, and some documents involving some battle at "Wounded Knee".

Yeah, unfortunately those books weren't stored very well before we got them. Luckily the discoloration is mostly on the cover and the pages are mostly intact. Tons of newspaper clippings from the late 1800's to the 1940's as well as uniform pieces, including a very old 10th Cav. "Buffalo Soldiers" insignia pin. Take some research to put a rough date to it but it was made when sterling silver was still used as the base metal.

So one of my ancestors signed something for one of your ancestors. Roosevelt was my great-grandfather's cousin, or some shite like that. Don't remember how it went exactly.

We're practically bros...lol!

That some cool shite there. Both of my paw paws were in WWII. One a marine the other in the army. The marine had a scrap book with pictures and signatures. I don’t think anyone famous though.

Got pictures of mine with actress Ann Sheridan, Patton, General J.M. Wainwright (have a letter from him too, same graduating class from West Point as my great-grandfather).

My dad and his three brothers right before three of them went over seas. Two to Japan , one to Europe.

Holy shite that letter is amazing

Your grandpa was a badass. "I was shot 5 times with a machine gun, but it is really not as bad as it sounds."
"I will guarantee you the Jap that shot me wont write to his folks and tell them about it."

Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing.
